Our goal for the future is to achieve a technological revolution: the driverless car. This involves integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm and car-to-car (C2C) and car to infrastructure (C2I) systems. The resulting connected car would be able to communicate with other vehicles on the road and other connected objects. All this poses enormous technological challenges and significant data security issues.
Increasingly smart cars, capable of communicating with the driver and entertaining the passengers, require easy-to-use, ergonomic user interfaces, developed in accordance with the latest advances in HMI and infotainment technology. Moreover, all their components need to be made to high safety and reliability standards which means strict testing and validation procedures on all the hardware and software that underlies the operation of the various car subsystems.
