It is the result of engineering studies, comparing different possible layouts. The design of a new industrial installation is usually finalized together with the production processes, the new lines and equipment.

The industrial layout for already existing processes and installations (therefore separated from the research of production processes and equipment), is, on the other hand, usually carried out with the goal of rearranging a line or process the Client already owns, so that it can be fit for different production purposes and needs, obviously given that the line is fully functioning.
